OS X is based upon a mixture of BSD/Unix variants to start with, so to say its "ILLEGAL" to run and form of unix based OS on any Mac is basically saying "You cant even install Mac OS"... once you purchase a machine its yours to do with as you wish, if that voids the warranty then so be it, but its your own choice to make! Apple has always had complete rein over the hardware it uses in its machines and that's EXACTLY they way it should be, because things just work. No messing, no faults and no gremlins. The software is designed from the ground up to be used with the hardware that Apple chooses and I for one have no complaints. Sure there are cheaper options out there, sure you get almost as much for your money... But does it work as well? As seamlessly? Does it look as beautiful or run EXACTLY how it should all of the time? I doubt it... and that's why I invested in a Mac!
